Horsemanship lessons for ages 8 +

 Horses! The mere mention of the word conjures up visions of exciting adventures, enjoyable leisure time, galloping across the range, and bonding with a 'best friend."  But horses can be hard to understand, at times difficult to ride, and  sometimes anything but peaceful and enjoyable! 

So what is authentic horsemanship? It's real. Not a relationship forced on your horse in a round pen by chasing him around. It's being with your horse as a leader and not in conflict with him. It's your horse choosing to be with you. You can choose to ride western or english style, it doesn't matter. We specialize in bridging the gap of understanding, safely help you learn to "read" a horse, develop the correct balance & seat, and riding knowledge to master the authentic art of horsemanship. 

Our horses have been properly worked with so they enjoy helping their less experienced riders. They enjoy relationships and being with people. Our first priority is always safety. Whether you want to ride  English or a Western style, we can help you improve your relationship and communication with your horse OR learn authentic horsemanship with one of ours.

LESSON RATES: $50/private (our horse)  $40/hour (your horse)

                             $35/semi-private 2-3 riders

                             $30/group of 3-6

Most lessons run about an hour. Some may be longer if needed to finish up the objective.

LEASING A HORSE

If you truly want to become horse savvy, you need to practice with a good horse. We offer half leases to one of school horses that will best suite you. With a half lease, you will take your lesson and also be able to work with your horse 2 more times a week, with guided practice sessions until you achieve proficiency at the beginner level. Once you achieve proficiency and are no longer a beginner, you are free to practice without  guided practice (help.) Our leasing rates are cheaper than you can board a horse for so we invite you to take advantage of them before you purchase your horse and learn all that is involved in caring for a horse! If you have no plans of buying your own horse (good ones are expensive!) you are welcomed to continue on leasing a horse from us. 

LEASING RATES: $100/month 1 lesson and 2 practice sessions a week- plus some maintenance work for your horse (stall cleaning, holding for the farrier, etc)  Call to see who is currently available for leasing.
